Hello spring! Like us, you’ve probably been waiting to say that for a while (and might still be waiting if you’re farther north…) As the weather changes and gets warmer, it becomes even more important to cleanse and exfoliate your skin. Our Matcha Clay Mask is our most popular product, but you don’t have to always use it the same way! Below are a few of our favorite fresh tips from our favorite people - our beloved customers.
#1. Apple Cider Vinegar
Lots of our customers use this simple trick - mixing your mask with apple cider vinegar! Sarah in Houston, Texas, shared that the acidity in the apple cider vinegar works great with exfoliating clay, and it is especially effective for acne prone skin - clearing the congested pores and drawing out the toxins. In addition, apple cider vinegar can help to restore the skin’s pH balance making your skin feels hydrated.
What does pH have to do with it? Our skin’s natural barrier, the “acid mantle”, is naturally acidic. Many soaps and makeup removers are very alkaline to the skin, making it feel tight and dry. Bringing the pH level back to normal is important, and apple cider vinegar does just that! Using ACV to the matcha mask can help restore your skin’s acid mantle back to its natural pH balance.
#2. Sparkling Water
Customer and matcha mask advocate Gabriel in Sacramento, California posted that he loves using our masks once a week, mixing it with sparkling water. Why? The tingling sensation is fun, and provides extra stimulation for your skin, increasing the detoxifying process.
Yes, milk! It’s a great moisturizing agent, and something you probably already have in your fridge. I like to use coconut milk, since I already use it for my matcha lattes and smoothies, and it’s great for drier skin. Our mask is already made with coconut milk, but adding a little extra milk and a drop of any essential oil (or facial oils) are the icing on the cake. Not only does our mask cleanse and detox the skin, adding the oil and milk can help moisturize and keep you feeling hydrated, all while bringing out your natural glow!
